A Silhouette of My Life

Me and the Cross

At my lowest,

God is my HOPE

At my darkest,

God is my LIGHT

At my weakest,

God is my STRENGTH

At my saddest,

God is my COMFORTER.

It’s A Good Thing I’m Not Born Today

Back to the days of kites
The wind
brought freedom and might
The higher I flew,
the farther my sight
Wider horizon
made my future bright.

It’s A Good Thing I’m Not Born Today

Back to the days of streets
Where real friends
I truly met.
Didn’t care
of the sun’s heat,
As long as I played
using both my hands and feet.

It’s A Good Thing I’m Not Born Today

Blogging 201: Day 1

I’ve joined in WordPress’ Blogging 201. Just like other bloggers who accepted the challenge, I am excited but quite nervous if I could cope up with the challenges since my time and space is very limited.

Today’s assignment: consider what you want to accomplish with your blog. Write down three concrete goals you want to achieve.

Seems very basic, but actually these are things I forgot to ask myself since I started blogging.

I blog about my photos about people, streets and the world I see. Here are my vision for the next few months and I hope blogging 201 could help me meet my goals to make my vision a reality.

1. Post a weekly featured photo and a monthly gallery. This would push me to go out more often during my free hours and make some photos. It would help me improve my vision and style on photography. But still,  I’m not into photography tips and the likes.

2. Be more Interactive.

a. Comment on at least 3 photos I like from other photography bloggers.
b. Follow at least 1 blog about photography everyday.
c.  Feature a photography blogger every month whom I would find worthy the acknowledgement.

3. Reach 200 followers. My blog has 150 followers at the moment. It’s good enough to dream about having an extra 50 followers by the end of this blogging 201 challenges. Aside from likes that I received every time I post, I hope I could establish a daily percentage of views.

There it is! More power to all of us and good luck to all who took the Blogging 201 challenge.

3 Kilometers of Life After Work

No, it’s not a coincidence. The daily prompt’s question today is something meant to be, personally.

“After a long day at work or school,
what are your favorite ways
to wind down and decompress?”

For the past year, my daily activities were almost the same. It turned out to be boring sometimes.

I go to work at 9 o’clock in the morning and since I am a secretary of a company, I sit most of the times in front of a computer receiving emails, answering telephone calls, writing different correspondences and printing a lot of documents. I go home at six in the evening and check my facebook and blogs after dinner, call my wife through skype, then sleep alone in my 25 square meter room space. A routine. Something I have to live with for I am not in my country. I am working here in a foreign land away from home.

Recently, after work, I asked myself why not try something new. Since I have my camera with me which I consider as my best friend, I decided to take a 3-kilometer walk from office going home. I took some photos along the way and I never expected that my photos would remind me of some things about life.

a coffee shop signboard1. MY LIFE IS A RESULT OF MY CHOICES. It is both a  genuine journey and destination depending on which road I take.

layered2. LIFE IS LAYERED. I can never be on the same shoes of anyone. I have my space to stand and fill which I have to nurture and enrich.

3. FEEL BLESSED IN EVERY SITUATION. However tough life is, I should learn to smile and be thankful I am alive. There will always be someone there who has heavier loads than me to carry.

the black and white

4. CHOOSE WHICH SIDE. It’s either black or white. It’s my choice and decision to do good or bad, or to live it fair or not.

5. YET OFTENTIMES IT’S BOTH.  Same as others, I have my brighter and darker side. No one is perfect. I just need to use the goodness in me more often.

traffic6. HAVE A BREAK IN BETWEEN. Being too much busy makes me forget to notice the essence of living and the simple things that give me genuine happiness. From time to time, I have to stop because not all things are meant to be done in a rush.

fruits

7. ENJOY THE FRUITS OF HARD WORK. I should not forget to enjoy the juices of my labor.

1 and two

8. UP OR BELOW. Everyone seeks success. If ever I find it, I would rather keep my feet on the ground with someone than be on the top alone.

a moment with a friend

9. BE CONTENTED. There’s nothing fulfilling than to be with a friend at the end of each day’s journey. Someone to share with.

life orbit10. LIFE’S A CYCLE. I have my own life’s orbit. A journey worth travelling. I just need to live life to the fullest before it ends.

11. EXPECT A  TREAT.  However hard life will be, I will push through it. There will be a celebration. A bountiful table at the end.

So, that was my 3-kilometer of life after work. Things to remind me everyday for the rest of my challenging yet fulfilling life.

Thank you for reading.

Threshold

As roads crossed
from a lifelong journey,

When destiny becomes uncertain
brought by unending choices,

Have to stop for a while
Feel the flow,

traffic

Reassess your passion
Reset the goals,

Burn the flame
and get ready to start again,

A new threshold of  life.

Symmetry and Geometries

Today’s daily prompt question from wordpress is Have you got a code you live by? What are the principles or set of values you actively apply in your life?”

This is a photography blog, so I would like to interpret and answer the question using a photograph. I live my life through symmetry and geometries (not literally).

As soon as I read this week’s photo challenge, I went out for a while and luckily had this photo.
